Monthly Lesson Plans for Speech Therapy
One of my favorite things to do at the beginning of the calendar year is to reorganize my therapy materials. There are so many systems for organizing resources. Finding the one that is best for you and your space will help you with planning for your sessions. It will also prevent you from spending more money on materials that you might already own. I’m sharing the system that works best for me and I hope this will help YOU organize your speech therapy materials in the new year!
This photo will help you as a reference for where I started. It’s so easy to just shove materials in a cabinet. However, over time, this has resulted in me spending more money on resources because I didn’t remember all the I had previously purchased.
Let’s Get Started
For this project, I used clear 12×12 project cases from Iris (affiliate link). These bins are sturdy and will last several years. I purchased a pack of 10 and labeled one bin for each month. Since I do not provide services in the summer, I skipped June, July and August. I used my Cricut and vinyl to label each bin.
I added a label on the top cover with the themes I use for that month. This allows me to quickly grab an additional manipulative for each theme.
What’s Included In Each Monthly Bin?
Month at a Glance Calendars: This serves as a quick guide for what’s included in the bin. Each calendar includes a list of printable and digital resources. There are also book recommendations and weekly themes (that match the labels on the front of the bin). I can send you the Month at a Glance Calendars and labels for FREE! Leave your email below!
Prepped Materials: All prepped materials for the month are stored in each bin. These include book companions, Book Buddy Bingo boards, open-ended games, etc. I also keep extra “no prep” pages that I printed for the next the month rolls around.
Books: Books related to each themes or books that are holiday/seasonal go in the monthly bins. I keep a sticky note on the inside cover of the bin with books that I do not personally own and will need to checkout at the library.
Each month I pull out the bin and all of my materials are ready to go! I hope this helps you organize your speech therapy materials!
