March Madness is around the corner and your students will love these basketball-themed activities for speech therapy!
Speech Therapy Activities
March No-Prep: This unit is filled with NO PREP themed activities for the entire month. My favorite one is for articulation. In this activities, students cut apart the strips of paper and say the target each time they touch the basketball. After they say the target word, instruct them to crumple each strip and shoot it into the trash can. My students love this part! You can print the pages on orange paper to create “basketballs.”
Basketball Articulation “I Spy:” These LOW PREP articulation pages help make drill practice and carry-over easy! Tape the picture cards around your room. As students locate the picture in the room, they say the words in the box. You can send the pages home with the students for home practice too. Each page will allow you to target the sound 36-45 times. This resource is available in color and black/white.
Basketball Roll and Remove: This open-ended game is easy and engaging for students while you target any goal. Instruct the student to roll 2 dice, add up the numbers and cover that number. You can use dot markers, mini erasers, magnetic chips or buttons to cover the numbers.
You can grab these for FREE! Just leave your email here and I will send them directly to you!
Classroom Decorations
I love to decorate my room to fit the theme and my students love it too! You can find several items at Dollar Tree or ones that you can reuse for several years!
I added the basketball court backdrop using 2 table clothes and hung a few basketball lanterns.
I found the laundry baskets and inflatable basketballs at Dollar Tree. These create the perfect reinforce at the end of your session. The mini trophies are also from Dollar Tree. The students were so excited to be awarded a trophy at the end of the week.
