Happy November! This month I wanted to bring you activities that are easy to plan and engaging for all of your students. Here are five fall freebies for speech therapy.
Anchor Chart:
Anchor Chart: Who says anchor charts needs to be on rectangular poster paper? Creating an anchor chart with your students allows them to take ownership of their learning and provides a visual reference that they can use throughout the unit. You can write spider facts on feathers, or have students write “thankful thoughts.”
Reading Comprehension:
Reading Comprehension Passage with Vocabulary Cards: Prior to reading the passage, review the vocabulary words with your students. A “teacher copy” is also included for the reading passage to compare comprehension accuracy at the beginning and end of the unit/month. Looking for more passages similar to this one? Click Here.
Description:
Turkey Description: This is a fun activity to encourage your students to use descriptive words to describe a turkey.
Prepositions:
Prepositional Activity Book: Instruct students to draw a leaf (or use leaf mini erasers from the Target Dollar Spot) based on the location prompted on each page. I laminated these pages so that students could use a dry erase marker and I could reuse it for multiple sessions.
Craft:
Turkey Hat Craft: Print both pages for each student. You can write target words on the feathers. Instruct students to color the feathers and cut them out. Cut a strip of paper to fit the student’s head. Glue the feathers on the back of the turkey. Then, glue the turkey on the front of the headband.
Books:
“Fletcher and the Falling Leaves” by Julia Rawlinson
“There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves” by Lucille Colandro
“Turkey Trouble” by Wendi Silvano
“There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey” by Lucille Colandro
“Bear Says Thanks”by Karna Wilson
“Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade” by Melissa Sweet
