Do you use animated video clips during your sessions? Keep reading to learn how to use animated videos to practice identifying feelings in speech therapy.
Why I Love Animated Video Clips
- Short Videos: Most videos are 4-5 minutes making them ideal for your short lessons. I typically watch the entire video all the way through with my students the first time. Then, we will rewatch the video and I will pause it a certain times to discuss body language and feelings. We will also use this information to make a guess about what the characters might be thinking.
- Exaggerated Facial Expressions: Most animators design the characters to have exaggerated facial expressions, making them perfect to analyze body language to help determine the feelings (i.e., wide eyes, open mouth, hands in the air, etc.).
- Limited to No Spoken Words: These videos often have minimal spoken words, if any at all. This is a great opportunity to allow students to create their own script and determine what the characters are thinking.
- No Cost: You can find so many animated video clips are YouTube making them FREE for you!
- Engaging for Your Students: Students LOVE watching the videos keeping them engaged in your lesson and motivated to participate.
